There are several blogging engines and services available, and they all have their attractions. How do people with multiple blogs use them?

I guess what I'm getting at alongside or beyond the choice of engines is how to manage multiple blogs:

  1. Should each blog have a clearly defined purpose?
  2. Should you do anything to aggregate the blogs?
  3.  Do certain kinds of blogs need certain features?
  4. Do you give each blog a distinct visual identity?
  5. To what extent do your answers to these questions reflect a strategy thought out in advance, and to what extent do they represent an emerging pattern?
